Baked Ziti

Whenever I make this dish, I get a ton of compliments and people literally lick their plates clean. Try it with garlic bread.

Ingredients

  • 1 16oz. box ziti pasta, cooked according to package

  • 1/2 lb. ground beef

  • 1/2 lb. ground sausage

  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped

  • 2 jars (48 oz.) spaghetti

  • 6-8 slices provolone cheese

  • 1-1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella

  • 1-1/2 cup sour cream

  • 1/4 cup fresh basil

  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese

Directions

  • Cook pasta according to package and drain. Set aside.

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  • Grease a 11 x 7 casserole pan.

  • In a large skillet, brown the sausage and beef over medium heat. Add onions; saute until tender. Drain off fat and add spaghetti sauce; simmer for about 15 minutes.

  • In the greased baking dish, place about half of the pasta; top with a layer of provolone (I tear the cheese in half) and mozzarella cheese. Spread on a layer of half the spaghetti sauce mixture and sour cream.

  • Cover with remaining pasta, cheese and sauce; sprinkle a layer of Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.

  • Bake for about 30 minutes or until cheese and sauce are bubbly. Cool slightly and then serve.
